GETTING TO KNOW US

  • My father started the business in 1999. His career included a background in electric & mechanical engineering, and computer networking. In starting Residential Air Quality the focus was on the technology and solutions [purifiers, air cleaners & vent systems, etc.]. I would be on-hand to provide an ‘extra pair of hands’ when needed.
  • The jeep in the photo is a 1946 Willy’s restored to glory – first of the ‘civilian’ jeeps – he found great ‘therapy’ in restoring it.
  • The dove posing with me above is a ‘rescue’ animal – randomly showed up and kept hanging around in our driveway. Not sure 'how' he arrived as he is a domestic not a 'wild' bird. We noted an injury, got help for him to heal and we have been his ‘flock’ ever since! LOVES music - he dances! - sits on our lap [or head] while watching TV but we're not ready to risk walks on the beach! His name is Dixie.
  • My initial career was in graphics – from design to teaching – Signed on officially with Residential Air Quality in 2008 [although I still have my hands in the ‘art’…].

For example: One of my favorite cartoon strips was ‘Peanuts’ – there is one where Lucy asks Charlie Brown “Why are we here”? – His response was “To help others”. Her response: “Then what are the others here for”? It kind of sets the tone for our thinking of ‘do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do’. Imagine my surprise when I found that cartoon published the month my parents married back in the 60's!

  • A major motivation for my career move was that we noticed a trend with a question: “If it isn’t mold, what is it?” – at the time there were many new ‘air quality concerns’ cropping up in residences [voc’s, formaldehyde, spray foam insulation, etc.] where there were more questions and less answers. We determined to pull back from the solution view and broaden our assessment and testing abilities to find the answers knowing the ‘new’ solutions would meet the need.

Our core values are pretty straight forward:

  • Personal Health: “Is my home environment affecting me and my family?” “Do I ‘feel better’ when I am away from my home?” Allergies, breathing issues, fatigue, headaches and much more are directly linked to substances that ingest from air contaminants or particulate. Identifying these substances is a great first step to removing them from our breathing space.
  • Safety: Looking after our own families well-being is one of the more important things we can do in our lives. Ensuring clean indoor air quality not only removes contaminants and respirable irritants for individuals with sensitivities, it contributes to a healthier environment that can benefit the entire family!
  • Comfort: It has been said that you cannot put a price tag on peace of mind. If you have any questions about the quality of the air in your living space, an air quality assessment will either validate that an unseen condition exists and make it ‘tangible’ to deal with, or will provide a ‘clean bill of health’ and put those concerns to rest!
